The HES-SO Valais
The HES-SO Valais is part of the University of Applied Sciences Western Switzerland. It offers internationally recognised Bachelor’s degrees.
The HES-SO Valais offers a choice of eight degree courses in three fields of study.
Business, Management and Services
This field of study offers three degree courses in Sierre. The Business Administration degree course is aimed at generalists who seek management positions. Students can choose to specialise in public management, business experience, tourism management or business processes. Tourism is a new degree course which covers all aspects of tourism. Students can specialise in leisure, sport and health tourism, cultural and business tourism or e-tourism. The Business Information Systems degree course offers an ideal combination of computer science and economics. Students of this course become equally proficient in technical and communications fields.
Health & Social Work
This field covers three degree courses: Physiotherapy, Nursing and Social Work. The Nursing degree course is offered at Sion and Viège. Students acquire technical knowledge and develop the capacity for analytical thinking, as well as empathy and social skills. The emphasis of the Physiotherapy degree course at Loèche-les-Bains is on movement and mobility. Physiotherapy is a technical and manual profession involving the whole body. Present-day social work is constantly faced with new challenges and the profession needs graduates who are able to propose modern, innovative solutions. After a joint basic education, students opt to specialise in social work, social pedagogy or socio-cultural animation.
Engineering Sciences
The Engineering Sciences faculty at Sion offers two degree courses: Life Technologies and Systems Engineering. The Life Technologies degree course offers a modern training combining theory and practice. An initial core curriculum is followed by specialisation in one of the following fields: analytical chemistry, biotechnology, food technology. Students in the Systems Engineering degree course enter the complex world of engineering. They can choose to specialise in different sectors: electronics, computer science, telecommunications, energy management, mechanical engineering, automation, materials, design, etc.
With these eight degree courses, the HES-SO Valais offers young people a wide range of UAS-level education, enabling them to plan for their future and contribute to the development of society.
